Happy 2020!
It occurred to me that, if you are an alum from 2015-2019, you may be missing seeing Helen and Carolyn. I also thought that, if you are a pre-2015 alum, you may be wishing you could hear more from Carolyn and Helen. :-)
To satisfy either yearning, I thought it would be fun to post some rarities from the residencies featuring our beloved Helen Edwards and cherished Carolyn Arends.
The Easy Grace of Praxis with Helen Edwards (September 2019 for the Charlotte Cohort’s first residency)
Helen shares some basic (for you, dear alum, back-to-basics) thoughts on living with the monthly practices of the Institute. In her warm and wise way, she draws our incoming students out of what might be a place of wariness or worry and into the easy grace of praxis.
Diving into the Evangelical Stream with Carolyn Arends (November 2019 for the Chicago Cohort’s third residency)
Carolyn offers a fresh take on her lectures for Becoming More Like Jesus in the Evangelical Stream (Course III curriculum). Enjoy!
"Taste the Soup" by Carolyn Arends (supplemental article)
The Invitation to Wrestle with God (recording of live sermon with Carolyn Arends for the Practice at Willow Creek, recorded in November 2019)
In case you missed it elsewhere, Carolyn also recently gave the message for the folks over at the Practice (South Barrington, IL) this past November as part of Pre-RI Public Conference. In this recording of the evening service, she offers insight on how those seasons of doubt and wrestling can become some of the most fruitful in our Christian walk
